ANKC Registrations
To compete in any ANKC Scheduled events you must be a member of the ANKC in your State Body.
The ANKC is the Governing Body who controls all dog events, and whom are affiliated with the FCI
History tells us that man has endeavored, since the beginning of time, to produce animals of desired characteristics and features.
ANKC
Mission Statement
(adopted 10/97)
The pedigreed dog is an historical success story, a tribute to mans creativity.
There is hardly a useful or recreational pursuit, of man, that the dog may
not enhance or complement and all dispositions are available.
The pedigreed dog is infinitely more predictable as to size, characteristics, temperament and coat than its crossbred relatives.
Anyone can join there State k9 Council = Even if you do not own a dog. Contrary to the 'MYTH' that you HAVE to own a Purebred dog.
The K9 Councils around Australia are organisations who can help 'YOU' achieve the best for you and your dog, with the different events that are scheduled throughout the country, and like any other Club they also have rules and regulations that must be abide to by their members.
The ANKC has Three (3) different registers:
Main Register:
For Dogs/Bitches whom can compete in the following classes: Shown/Obedience Trial/Agility/Endurance Test/Tracking Test/Herding Test.
These dogs/bitches can be bred from and will receive Main Papers for their progeny. (These papers are Blue in colour with full pedigree lineage).
Most Breeders will have these papers filled out by the time puppy goes to there new home, so therefore only a transfer of ownership should take place with the ANKC.
Limited Register:
For Dogs/Bitches whom are limited to what/where they can compete.
These dogs/bitches CAN NOT be shown at any shows.
They do not however have to be de-sexed.
These dogs/bitches can compete in the Obedience level with Obedience Trials/Agility/Endurance Test/Tracking Test/Herding Test.
These dogs/bitches CAN NOT be bred with as they will receive NO further registration from the ANKC. (These papers are Orange in colour, with the words "Limited Register")
Associate Register:
RNSWCC, VCA, ACT, request that these Dogs/Bitches are DESEXED with written proof from a Veterinarian of where and when they were de-sexed.
These dogs/bitches have to be called by one (1) syllable.
These dogs/bitches CAN NOT be shown any conformation breed shows. These dogs/bitches can compete in Obedience Trials/Agility/Endurance Test/Tracking Test/Herding Test. These dogs/bitches are also known as AR on the ANKC register.
There are some Breed Clubs that do not allow AR registered in Speciality Trials.
So check carefully before entering a Speciality Breed Obedience Trial.
(These registration papers are Blue in Colour BUT lineage on papers will have the wording N/A)
