The ANKC has several different registrations allowing 'ALL' dogs to compete at different Disciplines within there stucture to see which type of registration you and your dog are eligible for take a look at 'ANKC Registrations'
The following are the different events that you can enter and Success in all canine competition disciplines is a partnership between dog and handler. The handler (exhibitor) must know what they doing. The dog (exhibit) must be suitably trained to know what is expected. A novice exhibitor is advised to seek instruction from their dog’s breeder or the
owner of its sire. It is in the best interest of these people that your exhibit is shown/compete at its best. Showing your dog.The purpose of a conformation show (Championship, Open or Parade) is for the judge to measure the exhibitor dogs against the Breed Standard and in the conformation ring the judge measures your dog against the breed standard, it is what the breeder should aspire to.
All Breeders should use the Breed Standard as a guide for future litters and potential stud partners to better their stock. The judge will typically observe the exhibit (dog) standing ('on the stack") and moving. A skilled exhibitor will handle the exhibit to best demonstrate its attributes. "Stacking" means that the dog is placed in the best posture for the judge's observation. A careful pace will best demonstrate the exhibits movement for the judge. There are several different levels of showing.
Champion Shows:
These shows have Challenge Certificates available for the best dog and bitch of each breed. Points are awarded as follows; five (5) plus one (1) point for each animal of that sex which actually competes, thus a minimum of six (6) to a maximum of 25 (twenty five) per show. A dog, which earns 100 points, entitled to be recognized as an Australian Champion.
An Australian Grand Champion has amassed 1000 points. Puppies under 6 months cannot earn Challenges but can enter the Baby Puppy classes offered.
Open Shows / Parades:
These shows are in the same format as Champion Shows, however Challenge Certificates are not available and Champions may only compete if the schedule permits.
Sanctioned Shows:
These are shows approved by the ANKC/Member Body, and usually are for charity or in conjunction with other community activity.

Members Competitions:
A Breed Group runs these, or Kennel Clubs and only members may enter. It is about learning the different groups held and run on show days or obedience trials, most time it is about best dress and having a lot of fun.
Obedience trialing
Is a sport for the teamwork (you and your dog) is evaluated within your class in your disciplines. Disciplines include; agility, obedience. Endurance, tracking. Again there are many choices of activities of disciplines and many people try them all.
Obedience:
Most handlers start off at their local obedience club and trial when their dog reaches a suitable level.
Titles that available in the Obedience Ring are:
C.C.D. Community Companion Dog. (CCD)
(This Title does NOT go towards your OC)
C.D. Companion Dog. (Novice)
C.D.X. Companion Dog Excellent. (Open)
UD. Utility Dog. (UD)
OC. Obedience Champion. (OC)
UDX. Utility Dog Excellence. (UDX)
(This Title does NOT go towards your OC)
The title of the OC will be offered at a high level standard. To earn a Title, a dog must gain three (3) passes at that level, a pass is minimum score of 170 from a possible 200 and have all exercises in the Test must be passed also Dogs which have their CDX and UD may compete at those levels at their pleasure.
Agility
Cover a course of Obstacles.
The dog must complete every obstacle within a predetermined time limit. This discipline provides three (3) classes of competition and resultant Titles. Three Titles are on offer.
AD. Agility Dog
ADX. Agility Dog Excellent
ADM. Agility Dog Masters AD and ADX >>
Three (3) passes are needed for this title, while for the much more difficult
Masters title, seven (7) passes are required.
Tracking: Two (2) Titles are available:
TD. Tracking Dog
TDX Tracking Dog Excellent
TC. Tracking Champion
Once these titles are attained, dogs may no longer compete at this level, but the Tracking Club can offer for those who wish to continue.
Search and Rescue is also a growing activity.
Herding:

Fly ball:
Obedience clubs or other groups often offer this fun activity.
There are many web sites dedicated to the sport.
Endurance Test:
To gain the Endurance Test title (ET), the dog, accompanied by a handler usually on foot or bicycle, must cover 20 kilometers, there are veterinary checks before, during and after the test and their the dog must be able to pass a basic obedience exercise at the end to qualify.
